Palo Alto, CA – The Bay Area’s beloved
food personality, Narsai David, will be the Master of Ceremonies at
a special garden party and concert to benefit the Ives Quartet’s
educational outreach program. The event will be held at the historic
Green Gables Estate in Woodside, where Narsai will talk about the French,
American, and German food and wine being served to complement an Ives
Quartet performance of music by Ravel, Kroll, and Mendelssohn. Attendees
of this elegant afternoon affair will have the opportunity to enjoy
the magnificent grounds of Green Gables; sample fine wine and food;
experience live chamber music in magnificent surroundings; and meet
Narsai David. Proceeds from the event will support the Ives Quartet’s
educational outreach program which brings classical music of the
highest caliber into the lives of Bay Area school children.
The Ives Quartet is a non-profit organization whose
mission is to present invigorating and groundbreaking performances that
will engage and inspire audiences of all ages and backgrounds. Its educational
outreach program brings chamber music into Bay Area schools. Using a
mixed format of lecture-demonstration and performance, the members of
the Ives Quartet share their music each year with hundreds of school
children from diverse ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds.
Committed to presenting the full scope of the string
quartet literature, the Ives Quartet --Robin Sharp and Susan Freier,
violins; Scott Woolweaver, viola; and Stephen Harrison, cello -- continues
to earn critical and popular acclaim for depth and diversity of its
programming, with repertoire ranging from recognized classics and neglected
masterpieces to new commissions and distinctive collaborations with
guest artists. The Ives Quartet presents a fall, winter, and spring
concert series in San Francisco, Palo Alto, and San Jose, and appears
on noted chamber music series and festivals nationwide. Their recordings,
which appear on the Laurel Record, Music and Arts, and AIX Entertainment
labels, feature rarely performed contemporary and commissioned works.
